Every year during the Autumn typhoon season, the river often floods because it’s curved and narrow, thus it was dredged beginning 1975 and completed in 1982. Later, the County government planned Dongshan River’s leisure facilities with the concept of being near to water, resulted in the now famous Dongshan River Water Park.
